Service Description

The Management of Assaultive Behavior in the Hospital course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to recognize, prevent, and respond effectively to aggressive or violent behavior in a clinical setting. With the growing emphasis on workplace safety and patient-centered care, it is essential that hospital staff are prepared to manage potentially assaultive situations with professionalism, confidence, and compassion. This comprehensive training (AB-508 and SB-1299) covers early warning signs of escalating behavior, communication and de-escalation strategies, situational awareness, and legal and ethical considerations related to patient restraint and staff intervention. Participants will also learn safe, non-harmful physical intervention techniques appropriate for healthcare environments, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the dignity and safety of all individuals involved. Through a combination of lectures, scenario-based discussions, this course aims to reduce the risk of injury, improve team responses during crisis situations, and promote a culture of safety and respect throughout the hospital. This course is ideal for nurses, physicians, EMTs, paramedics, healthcare assistants, social workers, and healthcare students (including nursing and medical students) who may encounter aggressive or unsafe behaviors in the workplace. It is suitable for those taking the course for the first time or completing a renewal certification. Upon successful completion, students will receive an MAB course completion certificate, accepted at healthcare facilities worldwide.
